Money Matters

• There is no ATM and certainly no bank in Las Penitas so visitors are advised to bring the cash they think they’ll need from Leon. A few hotels, hostels and restaurants will accept major credit cards, but traveller’s checks will be a gamble.
• American dollars are normally accepted in Las Penitas, even in smaller shops. You will get the change in cordobas.
• Smaller shops can have a hard time coming up with change for larger bills, so anything above 5 USD is preferably broken into smaller denominations at one of the larger establishments.
